Autumn Activities!

With temperatures comfortably ranging from the mid 60s to mid 80s Fahrenheit (18-29 Celsius) and the departure of summer’s daily rainfall, October is a delightful month to enjoy the autumn season in Manatee and Sarasota Counties. The time change won’t cause us to fall back an hour until November 3rd, so we still have plenty of daylight hours to avail ourselves of the many healthy outdoor activities afforded us. These local activities are perfect for individuals seeking ways to stay active, maintain a healthy lifestyle, or possibly even help recover from injury. As a physical therapy clinic, we understand the importance of movement and exercise in improving mobility, preventing injuries, and enhancing overall well-being, so we’re pleased to highlight a few close-to-home healthy happenings this fall season.

Let’s start with the lowest impact, most accessible to any fitness level sort of options we have. How about a leisurely 2 mile guided walk, led by an experienced bird watcher under the auspices of the Sarasota Audubon Society? Look for migrant birds, forest birds, waders, flyovers, and ducks on this excursion through the Red Bug Slough Preserve. The walk is about half sun and half shade, but it takes place in the morning before the UV exposure gets too intense. For an alternative walk that also benefits a good cause, check out the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. There’s no fee to register to walk, though the Alzheimer’s Association offers fundraising opportunities to link to your participation if you want to go above and beyond. Another not-too-athletic, but still active event to try is Beach Yoga. With dates available all month long and a variety of beaches to choose from, like Siesta, yoga on the beach may turn out to be your new healthy hobby.

For a little more vigorous activity options, The Legacy Trail offers bike trails and dog-friendly hiking. Or, you can take a guided hiking tour of the upland habitats of the Rye Preserve and learn about Florida’s native plants, natural history, and early settlement as you get some outside time and a manageable walking workout. This tour is suitable for all ages, and speaking of all ages, autumn activities are for the kids and grandchildren too. A Bradenton community event called Goblin Gathering will provide a safe space for the young ones to jump on bounce houses, navigate hay mazes, meet some animals in a petting zoo, and engage in other fall festivities at G.T. Bray Park which of course features a host of its own activity oriented amenities.

Incorporating physical therapy into your routine can significantly enhance your ability to participate in the numerous healthy events and activities our community has to offer. Whether you’re looking to join a group hike, take part in a local fitness class, or simply enjoy a walk along the beautiful beaches of Manatee and Sarasota Counties, physical therapy can help you move with greater ease and confidence. By addressing pain, improving mobility, and preventing injuries, physical therapy empowers you to embrace an active lifestyle and make the most of every opportunity for wellness and adventure in our vibrant region. I have used Physical Therapy Doctors for a problem with my back and my arm/shoulder. I have found the entire team to be beyond professional and helpful in getting me back to a great sense of comfort. The pain is gone and my area of comfort is so good. The way they treat you – both personally and with their therapy, is comforting just being there. I HIGHLY recommend this place to all of my friends and acquaintances that need physical therapy – and they all are happy they listened!

Both Scott and Maggie are true professionals and are able to meet the needs of their clients. I have experienced their skill set while working through knee pain and sciatica issues. They are efficient in terms of scheduling and providing services at the scheduled time. Excellent results!!!

My experience at Physical Therapy Doctors of Florida was excellent. Scott is a knowledgeable, positive and personable therapist. His focus was to return me to the high level of activity I was accustomed to before my knee injury. I achieved that level. I completed my therapy with a formula to maintain and improve my strength to reduce the potential for further injury. I am very grateful for his expertise and efforts.

This small physical therapy practice is by far the best I’ve worked with over my many years of arthritis and surgery. The process of healing is different for everyone and I like that each session was tailored to how I was feeling that day along with ultimate goals.

I cannot say a bad word about physical therapy. Doctors of Florida.
What I like about it is that it’s a small Community, you get to know people while you’re having treatment and while you’re waiting to have treatment.
Everyone was kind and Respectful I felt like I was visiting family.
They always answered questions I had, and taught me how to take care of myself and why things work. The way they do what needs to happen to make it better. I even get homework.
And not to mention the candy on the way in sometimes on the way out.
Thank you for all you’ve done for me. It’s very much appreciated.
I would strongly recommend physical therapy.Doctors Of Florida. to anyone who needs help.
Respectfully Jackie Koons.

Scott is the best. Using the exercises and techniques he showed me I have made a nearly 100% recovery from a severe back injury.I was told surgery was my only option if I wanted to even perform normal activities. I can now race my dirtbike again and lift very heavy weights in the gym!!.I still do the exercises I was taught by Scott as part of my daily exercise routine.I am so thankful I did not choose the surgery route and went to Physical Therapy Doctors of Florida.

Dr Scott and Maggie are FANTASTIC! The knowledge and compassion were the best! They never gave up on my knee. I leave with a new set of life skills that if followed will allow me to head pain free to Paris, Athens and Barcelona this fall and maintain a wonderful retirement for years with my husband!!! Thank you!!!

Snowbirded here in Bradenton for 3 months. I was having pain in my hip, and Dr gave PT papers. A friend staying at the RV resort recommended this PT facility. I can’t express enough how good Scott Swetland is at all aspects of PT, listening, explaining and setting up a plan. My gosh this guy is so knowledgeable… I did 5 or 6 PT sessions and it helped tremendously. This is a PT office that is strictly one on one and I will say this is very good, I was able to ask any questions , and he even gave me insight and exercises to do for my shoulder. I am so happy I found PT Doctors of Florida- Bradenton

Dr. Swetland aka SCOTT was fantastic, he GETS IT … wants you to be as active as you can (“motion is lotion”!) and have a high quality of life, whatever your fitness goals are. He got me back on my feet and feeling normal again right away. Practical, knowledgeable and up on all the latest science. A great find for me in South West Florida, PT Docs of Florida and SCOTT will always be my go to place when things need to get right and back on track. Thank you SCOTT for the confidence to get back at it! Appreciate you!
